WORST SERVICE AT CAPITEC SANDTON

I went to open a savings Account with a Capitec branch in Johannesburg CBD some months ago. They scanned my passport and permit and all was set to open the account. They then tried to call my office to confirm employment, and no one answered since it was a Saturday, and I told them the office does not open on weekends. So they told me to make time during the week.

Today (18/09/2019) I went to a Capitec branch in Sandton (N. Mandela Square). I was told by Pontsho (client attendant) that there is a restriction on my name and I need to go to home affairs and to a police station to open a case. I requested to see the manager, who never dared to introduce herself until I ask her name. The manager by the persona of Thabiseni confirmed and reiterated the same horrible story. In their explanation, someone tried to open a Capitec account with my Identity. I confessed that it was me who tried earlier on and I narrated my weekend ordeal. The manager told me that the system will only allow them to proceed when the Home affairs letter and the police affidavit are scanned. What do I open a case for, against who? I honestly find this ridiculous. The least I can say is that this is bull ****. Who has such time to waste on their hands in this era? Can Capitec resolve this and open an account for me, or I rather keep banking where I am banking.
