Worst kind of experience by Capitec Bank
I recently(4 October2017) switched my salary from one of the big banks and moved to Capitec(bad idea). The reason I decided to switch was because of a new loan I took with Capitec.A few days after the switch I got sms updates informing me that my debit orders had been successfully switched. Now came pay day and all my debits went through ok including the loan debits.Trouble began when I went to my old bank to close the account when I found that Capitec had also debited the old account for the same loans that they had already billed me on the Capitec account. The problem now is that the old account had no funds since I had already done the switch therefore I was then charged for failed debits which I paid in order to clear the account for closure. My biggest issue here is that nobody from Capitec seems to know what and how this happened. I have made numerous calls, branch visits, been told to go there and there but still no one is able to explain what happened. At one of the branches, after calling different departments for an hour, the consultant eventually told me that Capitec is aware of the problem and trying to sort it out, I must come back a few days later or go to any other branch (to get rid of me) that was two weeks ago. Ealier today I went to another branch still it was like I was speaking a foreign language when I explained this, a few calls were made but yet again nobody seems to own up ad admit that they know who can assist in thos issue. So as it stands I can say I am literally at a dead end.Ironically, when I went close my old account I was asked which bank I am moving to and when I mentioned the name I was casually told that I would be back, I just brushed it off as another competition tactic but now I know what they meant. For me personally Capitec is not really the best way to bank.I know this because I have had the best. And plz add a star with a zero for rating.
