Useless Administration

I took out a loan with Capitec a few years ago and during the process I was handed over to lawyers by theircollections department. The lawyers were Fenwick-Boschoff Attorneys. I made payment arrangements with the lawyers and continued to pay my account. On 22 January 2016, I received paid up letters from the lawyers stating that my account had been paid up and settled.

To my shock this morning, I pulled a credit report from TransUnion. The TransUnion credit report clearly shows that right up until last month (September 2017), I have been 150+ in arrears with Capitec. How is this possible when my account was settled almost 2 years ago?

The TransUnion credit report also reflects an overdue payment of R76.00. I have had no financial dealings with Capitec since the settlement of my debt so I have no idea where Capitec comes up with this amount. When I called your call centre yesterday, the call centre agent advised me that she could not tell me where the R76.00 comes from but said that your collections department would be able to tell me. She put me through to your collections department and they told me they could not tell me where it came from. So nobody knows where it comes from.

As a result of Capitec’s poor administration, I have suffered a negative image on my credit record which Capitec need to correct immediately.

I have sent through the settlement letters from the lawyers (at which time Capitec should have closed the account)! I have also included the reflection of my record from TransUnion but with no reply. The email address the collections department gave me does not exist.

Capitec needs to correct my payment record from February 2016 up until October 2017 to reflect that the account was closed. I want an apology letter as well as a letter indicating that all accounts are up to date and closed. My information needs to be updated with the credit bureaus and I want proof of this.

I have already lodged a dispute with TransUnion. Please do not tell me that I need to correct this with bureaus. You listed me, you correct it.

It appears as if I need to go ahead with legal proceedings as Capitec don't believe in responding.
