Urgent Dispute of Unauthorised Debit Orders and *****ulent Transactions

I received a call today from an unknown number from a person claiming to be enquiring about my Woolworths account, which is paid via debit order. The caller alleged that my account was in arrears, which I immediately disputed and advised that my account is fully up to date.

During the call, the caller requested that I confirm my account number. I only confirmed the account number linked to my main account and did not disclose any OTPs, PINs, passwords, banking app approvals, or any other confidential information.

Immediately after ending the call, funds were ********ly deducted from my account. What is particularly concerning is that the funds were taken from my secondary account — an account for which I do not even know the account number and which was never discussed during the call.

I find it alarming that unauthorised parties are seemingly able to gain access to customer banking information and process transactions without proper verification or consent. At no point did I approve any debit order mandate through my banking app, nor did I receive any notification requesting authorisation for such transactions.

Capitec’s claim that a valid debit order mandate exists is incorrect. I have never received or approved any debit order mandate relating to these transactions. My understanding is that any debit order authorisation requires customer consent and proper approval procedures before funds may be deducted.

I therefore demand the immediate reversal and reimbur*****t of all monies ********ly deducted from my account. I also request a full investigation into how access was granted to my accounts and how these transactions were processed without my authorisation.

Should this matter not be resolved urgently, I will escalate it to the Consumer Ombudsman and all other relevant regulatory authorities. Furthermore, I will strongly advise people within my circle to reconsider banking with Capitec due to these serious security concerns.

I require an urgent written response and resolution to this matter.
