URGENT: Capitec Bank and Nedbank must provide written reasons for declined credit applications needed for NCT case

I am requesting urgent written confirmation from Capitec Bank and Nedbank explaining why my credit applications were declined.

According to my Experian credit report dated 15 August 2024, the following credit enquiries were recorded on my profile:

Capitec enquiry: 24 June 2024 at 08:49:26 Capitec enquiry: 25 June 2024 at 11:07:06 Capitec enquiry: 26 June 2024 at 15:09:44 Nedbank Ltd enquiry: 22 July 2024 at 22:14:23

I need Capitec Bank to provide written reasons for the declined credit card application, including the exact decision reason, affordability assessment outcome, credit bureau information re**** on, internal risk reason, and whether any debt-review indicator, internal system flag, affordability rule, or bureau information was used.

I also need Nedbank to provide written reasons for the declined personal loan application, including the exact decision reason, affordability assessment outcome, credit bureau information re**** on, internal risk reason, and whether any debt-review indicator, internal system flag, affordability rule, or bureau information was used.

This information is urgently required for my matter currently before the National Consumer Tribunal. I have been trying to reach the relevant offices, but I am not being properly assisted.

Please respond in writing to: *** Alternatively, call me on: ***

I am not asking for a generic response. I need a formal written explanation for each declined application, because this information is required for my NCT evidence file.

Reviewer Update
Subject: Capitec Bank and Nedbank — Please Confirm Debt Review Flag Visibility and 2024 Decline Reasons in Writing
This message is directed to Capitec Bank and Nedbank.
I need both banks to urgently confirm, in writing, whether the following is true:
If a consumer has completed debt review and received a clearance certificate, but another bank failed to update or remove its internal debt review indicator/flag on time, can other banks see or be affected by that debt review status when processing new credit applications?
I am asking this because I received my debt review clearance certificate, and my clearance status was updated around 7 March 2024. However, during 2024, I continued to experience credit declines, including bond refinancing declines, and I was informed that the reason was because I was still showing as being under debt review.
Today, I spoke to Experian Credit Bureau, and I was advised that other banks should be able to see if another bank still has an internal debt review flag or indicator that was not properly removed. I therefore need Capitec Bank and Nedbank to confirm whether this is correct or not.
I also need both banks to explain, in writing, the following:
  1. When I app**** for credit in 2024, what information did your bank see on my profile?
  2. Did my profile show any debt review status, debt review flag, internal warning, or debt review-related indicator?
  3. Was the decline based fully or partly on debt review information?
  4. How was my affordability assessment done at the time of the application?
  5. What credit bureau information, internal information, or bank system information was used to make the decline decision?
  6. If the decline was based only on affordability, please provide the affordability assessment outcome and the specific affordability reason.
  7. If debt review information played any role, please clearly confirm this in writing.
This information is very important for my matter currently before the National Consumer Tribunal (NCT). I need proper written confirmation because this issue directly affects my case.
Nedbank gave me a very vague/simple answer today, which did not properly deal with the real issue. It felt like the response was only given to close the matter instead of answering my questions properly.
I am not asking for a general response. I am asking for a proper written explanation showing what was seen on my profile, how the decision was made, and whether debt review information or any internal/bureau-related flag affected the decision.
Please respond to me urgently in writing.
