Unhappy with Capitec Insurance Department.

I would like to formally raise a dispute regarding my rejected claim. It is very disappointing that Capitec allowed me to insure extended family members—both from my side and my wife’s side—yet, at the time of claiming, I am now being told that these individuals are considered “far from me.” I do not accept this rejection, as I strongly believe that Capitec should not allow clients to add members to their policy if the bank knows beforehand that such claims will not be honoured. Since marrying my wife, I have lived with and supported this child. We made a joint decision to insure him, especially after his mother passed away, so that we could assist and ensure he was covered in the event of any tragedy. My reasons for disputing the rejection are as follows: • Capitec allowed me to add Thubelihle to my policy from the beginning. If there was an issue of no insurable interest, this should have been communicated at the point of adding him. • I made every effort to fami****ize myself with Capitec’s policy terms, and at no point did I come across the term “No Insurable Interest.” Had this been clearly mentioned or explained, I would have made an alternative decision early on. I therefore request that this matter be reviewed again, as I believe the rejection is unfair and does not take into account the circumstances in which this child became a part of my household and my responsibility.

DORIS, thank you so much for sharing this with me 💙 I can hear how deeply this situation has affected you, and I am truly sorry for the frustration, disappointment and emotional stress this claim outcome has caused. Your reasons for disputing the decision are valid, and it is completely understandable that you want this matter reviewed again 🙏 Because this involves an insurance claim and a rejected assessment, it needs to be handled directly by our insurance specialists. They are the only team who can reopen, investigate or overturn a claim outcome, and they will require all supporting documents and your full explanation. 👉 What you need to do next Please visit your nearest Capitec branch, where a consultant will: Log your formal dispute with the Insurance Department Attach your written motivation and supporting documents Escalate your claim for a reassessment Ensure your concerns are clearly recorded for the insurance team to review They will also explain what additional documents or proof may assist your dispute. 💙 You are doing the right thing Your message shows that you took care of this child, lived with him, and supported him as part of your household. It is understandable that you expected the cover to apply. You deserve to have your case reviewed properly with all the facts considered.

Hi Doris, please see the below feedback from Capitec Investigation Team.

(Case Number: ***5 Confirmation of complaint closure As discussed, our investigation into your complaint has been concluded.

Following a thorough review of your claim, we regret to inform you that the outcome remains unchanged. The claim has unfortunately been declined due to the absence of insurable interest between yourself and the individual for whom the cover was taken. As per policy requirements, insurable interest must exist at the time the policy is taken out and at the time of the claim).

Please intervene as I'm not accepting this feedback, Capitec bank funeral insurance rejects the payout of my claim but managed to transport the body of the deceased from Cape Town to Eastern Cape, after that, they say I am far from my Wife's sister's child. They never advised what document they needed to prove the relationship. I have supp**** all the documents from the mother of the child together with the child's mother which have all passed away, the deceased was with his aunt, and the document has also been supp****. No one from my Wife's family is working hence the child was covered on my funeral plan as agreed with my wife.

My request is to get my R20 000 cover amount as per policy agreement OR Capitec must pay me back all my monthly premium's since the inception of the policy so we can end out relationship peacefully.

Capitec, can I please get an answer. Why do you approve the transportation of the deceased from Cape Town to Eastern Cape and declined the payout if my My sister's child is far from me.
