Unfair bank charges on expired cards
My card has an expiry date on it which will be upcoming shortly. I will receive an sms telling me that i need to go to the branch to get a replacement card. I was told by a consultant that i need to pay R70.00 for this replacement card. Why are we being charged for this card when firstly, the card is still in excellent condition and secondly the expiry date is due to Capitec, not me. This is totally unacceptable. I understand that if i lost the card i need to pay or damaged the card. In this instance it is not me creating the need to replace the card, it is capitec. This is just a money making option for the bank - really not happy about this!
