Unauthorized debit order

I sent out the below email to Capitec Bank on 01/09/2016

Good morning

I would like to express the level of my unhappiness and frustration with regards Capitec Bank security measures.

Ever since I’ve opened my account with you guys Account number 130124....... I’ve had 4 unauthorised debited order taking place on my private bank account.

I do not just give out my account number or register online recklessly, it means someone is being reckless on your side. These companies deliberately debit my account

Taking funds between R80-R99.99. they know very well that if you debit those amounts it will be very hard for customers to trace and keep track of such transactions.

In July 2016 the below debit order took place.

EASYDEBITJANOBJAN ********** 6 R99.99 Date 29/07/2016

In August 2016 the below debits took place.

DIRECTSAALEDIRSAL ********** 082 R84.99 Date 26/08/2016

PLUS ZONE R89.99 Date 26/08/2016

I have managed to reverse these debit orders but my concern is for how will I be reversing these debits? What is Capitec doing in ensuring that security is increased to put their clients at ease.

Do I need to cancel my bank account and bank with other competitors for me to be at ease? This is frustrating and highly unacceptable. I’m looking forward in hearing from you.

and received the below response from them:

Good day Miss Mazinyo

Thank you for taking the time to write to us.

As a debit order is an instruction created by the 3rd party on their system, Capitec cannot cancel it. However, Capitec can assist with a debit order dispute.

A debit order dispute is a process by which Capitec bank will submit a request on your behalf to the external for the funds to be reversed.

To dispute the debit order you would need to visit a branch with your card and Id.

If you have no agreement in place with this 3rd party, you will need to liaise directly with them to resolve the issue.

Should you have any further queries with regards to the debit order, you are more than welcome to contact our client care centre on ***.

Was not pleased at all with the response, this is affecting my credibility with reversing and blocking uauthorised debit orders on my account, they are failing to come up with innovative ways to ensure that their clients are secure at all time, I wanted to find out their future plans in term of ensuring that these ****s do not take place in future. What about the elderly people that do not scrutinise their bank statements have they fallen victims to such cause they completely trust the security within their bank. This unacceptable.
