UNAUTHORISED ONLINE PURCHASE
On 19 March 2022 Saturday afternoon at 18h40 I received notification of an online purchase made from my Capitec of R301.90, REF. DRI*ESIGNS. At the time of the notification I was lying in bed watching TV. I immediately phoned Capitec Customer Services and had my card cancelled. This was over a long weekend! I was informed that an investigation will be made to find out who this payment was made to. I did not authorise this payment, I do not know who the company is and further more would not have purchased anything online as I have a tight monthly budget being widowed unexpectedly. I received an email with a reference number of the investigation. I have tried to phone on numerous occasions but was placed on hold for lengthy amount of times during my working hours. I have emailed the Customer Service Centre daily since the incident with my reference number and have yet to receive a response. When I visited my local Capitec Branch to collect my new card I was charged R70.00 for the re issue. I did not loose or damage my card, my account was hacked due to no fault on my side. The lady at the Branch went through my statements and my phone to establish where this online payment could have occurred from, nothing was found. I fail to see how it can take this long for Capitec to establish that I did not give permission or authorise the payment. This is not acceptable as I am now short of R300.00 that is meant to go towards other committments.
