Unauthorised credit card purchase

This morning I received an SMS from Capitec stating that a purchase had gone off my account even though I had the card on my person. It's an obviously ********** transaction so I called them to have the card cancelled and my money reversed. The transaction had already been made the day before (Capitec only bothered to alert me 24 hours later) and then was told that their card dispute division would take 8 working days to clear it up. I was told that they also don't have call lines to the department so I can't even follow up to get anything actioned. They don't know when I'll be contacted or by whom. I called the Complaints division who told me that she's done exactly what the other counter-jockey did and until then we fiddle our thumbs. I need to now go collect a new card and I'm thinking it's perhaps best to close the account entirely and move my banking back to FNB. They have premier bankers, contactable divisions, alerts for movements on any accounts immediately and don't have a shut-up-and-take-it attitude towards clients.

No, I was assured by numerous people in different departments that I would definitely receive a call from either Maxine Burt or Nondi Tsholoba today, please refer to the copious recorded phone calls I made to you this morning.

I've just spoken to Thandisiwe in Customer Care who confirmed to me that she is battling to get hold of everyone in the relevant departments because the ENTIRE staff contingent has left.

The entire head office in Cape Town have upped and left.

Tasks and emails sent as early as 8am this morning have still not been seen to and no one knows where anyone is.

The sheer depth and breadth of the inefficiency and indifference blows me away. You might have lots of customers but judging from this platform, Twitter and Facebook they're not happy.
This has taught me a quality lesson. I may pay more bank fees at FNB but I get what I pay for.
