I am extremely disappointed and distressed by what has happened on my Capitec account.

There was a beneficiary saved on my app under my FULL NAME, which I believed was one of my own FNB accounts. I already have my legitimate FNB account saved as a beneficiary, so there was no reason for me to suspect anything unusual.

Today, I made a payment of R5,000 to that beneficiary, only to later discover that the account does NOT belong to me. Instead, it belongs to a business called “Ruimsing Farmers Market” in Johannesburg — a place I have absolutely no connection to. I have lived in Cape Town my entire life and have never interacted with this business.

What is extremely concerning is:

* This beneficiary was renamed to MY FULL NAME, which misled me into trusting it * I have NEVER made any previous transactions to this account * I did NOT knowingly add or approve this beneficiary

This raises serious concerns about the security of Capitec’s system. How was an unknown beneficiary added and renamed to my personal name without my knowledge? This is a clear security failure and has resulted in financial loss.

I am requesting the following urgently:

* A full ***** investigation into my account * Immediate action to trace and recover my R5,000 * An explanation of how this beneficiary was added and renamed

I have already reported this matter, but I expect urgent feedback and resolution. This situation has caused me stress and loss of trust in the system.

Capitec needs to take accountability and ensure that clients are protected from such incidents.
