Trying to get settlement amount for loan account

Hi all,

Once again the South African banking service has let me down. I have a small loan account with Capitec Bank The other day I walked into a branch and wanted to know outstanding amount on the loan. I gave them my ID number but then they informed me by only having a loan account and no other accounts with them their system doesn't pick me up.. Their system is writen in such a way that if you don't have a savings or cheque account it sees you as a new customer and thus tries to add you for one of the above accounts.. So no luck there in getting the outstanding amount.

Today I phoned Capitec and tried to get an outstanding Settlement amount for the same loan account. They in turn can tell me what outstanding amount is but they can't give me a settlement amount for that I need to go into a branch. Now how the hell am I going to get a settlement account if they could not give me an outstanding amount the previous time I was there..

At one time I was going to move from FNB to Capitec but you just made rethink that.. No way I will ever move now... It seems one bank is just as bad as the other in South Africa. When I lived in the UK and in NZ I never experienced this low level of service.

No need to try and resolve it in 5 days I've gone to another branch and after jumping through hoops. I got my settlement amount. I had to threaten, the branch manager with the word "if I don't get a settlement amount I will just flag the monthly debit order as ***** with FNB. But money thanks for all the trouble I had to go through I will surely keep it in mind next time I want to do business with Capitec.
