TORN NOTES HIDING IN ATMS
I withdrew R500.00 from a Capitec ATM at the Kolonnade Retail Park in Montana one weekend ago. At a later stage in the week, I noticed that one of the R100's in the stack had an edge completely torn off. It was clear this this was a brand new note (no crinkles whatsoever), and the tearing had not happened while I withdrew the money. This note was inserted as such into the machine. I am now not able to spend this R100.00 anywhere. I went into the same branch where these ATMs are yesterday and they stated they cannot assist me. They will have to first investigate the ATM, then do further research and only then can they give me an outcome as to whether they can replace the R100.00 or not. Surely the bank has to be held liable should the notes in their ATMs be vandalized? Basically Capitec stole some of my money, as this note is absolutely USELESS. What is Capitec going to do about this situation? How many other people's money have you ****** by providing them with either vandalized or maybe even counterfeited notes?
