Terrible service
Went into Capitec van gate mall to open a new account yesterday(03/01/2025). Today (04/01/2025) I m being notified about an enquiry on the credit bureau.
I did not consent to the credit check. Why did the consultant run my name without my permission. That’s a violation of my right to confidentiality, last I checked no one is allowed to disclose my information to any third party without my permission. I expect a written apology and that ******* credit check removed from my record

12 Jan 2025, 23:14I m not pleased with the resolution or rather the way that this issue was handled. Not only is Capitec promoting *****ulent practices they are now trying to claim I m an idiot whilst they are it. Who ever they appointed to investigate my complain told me it’s part of their process to run a credit check when opening a savings account so the bank can see that I m in good standing or not with my other accounts. Good standing for what exactly when Capitec is offering on savings account. It would have made sense if they had chequing accounts. Why would my good standing matter when I m not asking them for any credit facility. Is Capitec now trying to say if I had bad debt with any creditor they were going to decline me a basic savings account?
I REFUSE TO BE SOLD A HALF BACKED LIE THAT ITS PART OF THEIR PROCESS TO RUN A CREDIT CHECK TO RUN A CREDIT CHECK WHEN OPENING AN ACCOUNT. Capitec whole business model is based mainly on assisting the market segment that was being neglected by the other big 4 banks. Mind this is not my first bank account and this isn’t the first time a Capitec employee ran a *****ulent credit check on me.
