STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM MERCANTILE BANK

Well, in a bizarre case of "I should've come to HelloPeter first" I am now sitting with the same ****ty situation as all other people that have reviewed the sad state of affairs that is opening a business bank account at Mercantile Bank.

WOW! Just wow! I see people complaining poor Londani. Much as she's at fault, it just feels like the whole process at Mercantile is flawed. I registered a business through BizPortal and made the mistake of chosing Mercantile as my business bank.

Within 24 hours I had the registration docs from cipc, could download BBBEE and tax certs. It's now been a week waiting for Mercantile. The sense of urgency with which they approach their work is about as hurried as watching a sloth cross the road.

I've now called Mercantile, spoke to a Nyiko - who couldn't find my ticket despite the reference number I have been using the whole time - who put me on hold to get hold of Gershwin, the "manager", only to have someone else pickup asking me how they could assist. I've left a message for Gershwin let's see if next year this time he'll pick up the phone and call me back.

What a sad state of affairs.
