Shocking service and unreasonable requirements
My fiance and I both went to the effort of signing affidavits this morning to serve as proof of address for opening our new bank accounts at Capitec. The Mowbray branch claimed that they did not accept affidavits and that we should get bank statements from Nedbank. Both of our addresses had changed since opening our Nedbank accounts. I called customer care to advise regarding my options as I am a student with no vehicle/accounts/lease is not in my name etc and they suggested that i get proof of registration from the university. I got the proof of registration and my fiance got proof of his banking details signed by Nedbank and we went to the claremont Capitec branch to open our accounts. We were told that my fiances proof of address was not acceptable but that I could sign a declaration form so we could both use mine. The teller started the process of opening our accounts, but when she scanned my fiance's ID she said it was \too damaged\" (it had some water damage but had been accepted by both Nedbank and the traffic department recently). After everything we couldnt open our accounts. It was a horrible experience and we will be staying with Nedbank even though we pay higher fees."
