Secondary cardholder locked out of Samsung Wallet on new phone – App loop glitch
I am writing this in absolute frustration as I am stuck in a continuous technical loop between Capitec’s security protocols and the Capitec banking app, and standard customer support has been unable to resolve it. I am a registered secondary cardholder on my partner's account. Previously, my physical or her card was loaded and working perfectly on my Samsung Wallet. However, I recently upgraded to a new mobile device. Because it is a new device, Samsung Wallet requires the card to be re-authorized. When I try to add the card manually through Samsung Wallet, the setup fails because Capitec states "Capitec has stopped doing it this way, go to the app and add it directly." However, when we log into the Capitec app on my partners phone, the "Add to Samsung Wallet" button is completely missing from my card settings layout. It only displays options like freeze card, online betting, tap to pay, and limits. My partner's primary card shows the Samsung Wallet button perfectly on her phone, but because my profile is secondary, the app interface is completely stripping the button away on my side. I am trapped in a loop: The Samsung app tells me to use the Capitec app, but the Capitec app refuses to show the button because I am a secondary user—even though this exact card is fully authorized for digital wallets and worked on my previous device. Going into the branch has not resolved this as the staff do not know how to handle digital token releases for secondary profiles. Please escalate this to your senior digital banking / technical IT team. I need Capitec to either: Manually push/authorize the digital token for my card to my Samsung Wallet from the backend, OR Fix the profile permissions so the "Add to Samsung Wallet" button appears on my secondary card menu within the app. I look forward to a response from someone on the technical team who understands digital wallet tokenization.
