Poor service from Capitec Bank
On Sunday April 4 I tried to withdraw R 550 from the Capitec ATM at Waterstone Village, Somerset West. The machine would not produce the money but instead I got a message: Choose the amount in multiples of R 20, R 50, R 100 and R 200. Well, R 550 is a multiple of R 50, so what kind of idiotic message is that? In the past the ATM machine worked out the combination of notes that gave the total. Has this machine gone dumb? The statement makes no mathematical sense whatsoever. It took me 4 transactions to get the money I wanted. I find that rather disturbing and tantamount to poor service. So on Monday I phoned the complaints division and reported what happened. I was given a reference number (***0) and was told that someone would get back to me. Well, that didn’t happen by Thursday so I telephoned my local branch at Somerset Mall and explained my problem. I was told that the Manager would phone back later. That also didn’t happen. So what is the use of a co-called reference number when you have a complaint, and when an attempt to address the issue via your local bank doesn’t pay off. I think it is a shocking state of affairs. Are we seeing Capitec Bank sliding in the morass of pathetic service of most of the other large banks that I’ve been with?
