Personal Finance Application Mess!

I actually don't even know what to say at this point! I am so so so angry.

I app**** for a credit card 3 weeks ago. Because I am self employed it goes to a different department which just made everything a total mission. I called, I whatsapped, I even went into the branch - over and over again. Only to have the application closed because no one had done a thing on it for more than 7 days.

After a lot of calls and chase ups it was eventually opened again. It took another week of calling and whatsapping to get any feedback.

FINALLY this morning I get a call to say it finalized and they can make me an offer. Praise the heavens! I was so happy after all my hard work to get it pushed through, only to be told I've been approved for a R90,000 personal loan. A PERSONAL LOAN?!? I wanted a credit card. I said to the agent assisting me that I would rather have a R10k credit card than a R90k loan. I don't need the money immediately but I want the facility. He said he can only offer what comes up on the system.

How can the system offer me a loan when I APP**** for a credit card????

I have been with Capitec for 15 years and always tell people how good the service is with low costs. But this has been a frustrating mess from start to finish - I can't believe any viable bank can actually operate like this. 😠
