PENSIONERS BEWARE OF UNNECESSARY FEES ATTACHED TO CREDIT CARDS AT CAPITEC

I have always been a loyal and proud client and shareholder at Capitec and was impressed when they started issuing Credit Cards. I have app**** successfully for a credit card shortly before taking retirement in June 2020.To my dismay, I discovered that I am debited for death, incapacity and loss of job insurance at Capitec. I visited the Sancardia Branch on 4 November 2020 and voiced my dissatisfaction for paying for something that is not applicable to pensioners. I spoke to Dacia Mthimunye. She initially informed me that "this is the way it is". As I indicated that I will not leave it there when walking out of the branch, she phoned me an hour later informing that she spoke to senior management and they will rectify the matter as I app**** whilst I was still working. She confirmed Capitec will now adjust my credit card account so as to stop deducting fees for something not applicable to me. This unfortunatly did not happen. The credit card account received on 21 November 2020 still reflects the deductions !

I thus went to my Branch at Brooklyn Mall on 23 November 2020 and explained my dissatisfaction with the lack of service rendered by Capitec. I spoke to "Francois", whom refused to provide me his surname. He maintained that they can not take responsibility for decisions taken by another branch and that I have to go back to Arcadia. I emphasised to him that this is a management problem, but there was no interest in solving my problem. My only option is now to close my account with Capitec as it seems they are simply robbing ******** pensioners with hidden fees not applicable to them.

Capitec has contacted me, apologised for the bad treatment and the matter was satisfactorily resolved. As a pensioner I have learnt to read agreements carefully before saying agreed. Capitec remains a bank providing excellent, simple service and remains on top of technology. Surely still the best bank for middle income, savvy pensioners like me.
