Penaltised 4 Bank's non disclosure of information
I invested money in a fixed term account with the bank for the purpose of earning interest before i bought an apartment. The money was due in December 2015. The lawyers wanted a guaratte leetter from the bank stating that when the money way due , it will be paid in the lawyers account. Apparently Capitec does not give guarantees. I was not told upfront of this exception otherwise i could have invested with another bank (all bank give such guarantee letters).

I was then left with no option but to unlock the funds and withdraw, NOT BECAUSE I WANTED TO, BUT BECAUSE THE BANK GAVE ME NO OTHER OPTION. I was then told I will have to pay a pernalty fee of over R400 for unlocking the funds before the maturity date. I am very up set about this becuase I was not informed upfront about their exception rules. i feel the bank has done me in and i very unhappy about it.

This is terrible customer service and unfair treatment of the customers according to the customer protection act.
