Paying, and a lot, for replacement ATM card

I used my ATM card in an ATM. and when it was ejected it was split lengthwise. I went to a Capitec branch at N1 City where I was promptly assisted an was charged R40 for a replacement. On complaining to the branch manager I was told that I could complain to whoever I liked including this forum but the card cost the bank R40 and I had to pay it. Furthermore, the card has a 4 year expiry date so I would have to pay it every 4 years anyway so stop crying and be grateful because the monthly charges are less at Capitec. I consider this ******ion as I am forced to have a bank account to live. The bank makes it money on the multiplier effect when they lend out their client's money to other clients. Why must they squeeze the last dime from their clients with exorbitant charges? They already levy bank charges and insist that I must have a card. I also had to buy a toggle to do internet banking. And no, I cannot always draw at one if the 3 stores the bank works with. And no, it is not like paying for parts on my car.. And yes, I get angry when I get lectured and fobbed off by staff.<br>
