Paused account, what does this even mean except headaches for the user

I transferred money into my sons account, only to find out that his Capitec Bank account has been paused. What does it even mean to pause an account. We are now overseas and we have no way of getting the moneys out of his account. Capitec should have a service to unpause your account online or via the app, but the message that we received is he has to go into the branch. He is overseas, how is he supposed to go into a branch?
