Pathetic service
My sister was doing her routine shopping on her pay day and noticed that her swipe notifications were not coming through as usual. She decided to visit capitec in Ermelo branch and that's when she learned that she's been a victim of f Cyber crime. A technician told her that her 082 cell number was migrated and replaced with a 076 number and a couple of debits amounting to just over R1800 were somehow reversed and withdrawn elsewhere. Her account was immediately frozen and investigation began with case number ***1 and lasted about 3 weeks.
To my surprise Capitec is refusing to refund my Sister's ****** money claiming that her pin was compromised and was utilised during this ********** transaction. The funny thing is, neither my Sister's card nor App was utilised for such a transaction which was certainly not performed by herself. I find the outcome of this investigation very poor and after reading many of the 16 206 reviews which generally rate capitec bank 1/5 star ratings, I feel like the bank would have received a zero star if the option was available. This is pathetic, other banks like FNB and Absa refund people's money almost instantly. We will be dragging this bank to the banking ombudsman and I will be blacklisting it to Western Cape Liquor Traders Association, South African Leisure Tourism and Hospitality Association, Drakenstein liquor Traders Association, Nyanga liquor Traders Association, kanga liquor traders Associations and vuma liquor traders Association as I am their respective treasured advisor and Commercial ***** Practitioner.
I advise everyone else reading this to take maters to ombudsman every time Capitec refuse them their rightful refund to ****** money. You can contact the banking ombudsman on ***
We lodged a complaint with Ombudsman and soon they were begging to pay, and they did. Piece of advice, file that complaint with the ombudsman, I promise you Capitec will change their groan and pay what is rightfully due to customers
