PASSING THE BUCK
My Sister erroneously deposited money into a incorrect account number thinking to be sending her daughter on the 30 July 2019. She then went to the bank in Bloed Street Pretoria for assistance and was told to bring an affidavit explaining herself. Today (05/208/2019) she was told a different story that she must go to small claims court for this. She called me very distraught and I asked her to come to town i will accompany her to a branch in Thabo Sehume (Andries) & Madiba (Vermeulen) Street . We were assisted by Ms Anna Khensane Mashala whom we explained what the background was and being failed by Bloed Street Capitec .
How do you tell a client to go small claims court for a transaction that was due to banking system and not someone you borrowed money and in this case is contrary, the receiver is not party to that category, more frustrating is that there's no information on the recipient except a cellphone number that is constantly on voicemail. The attitude is our problem cause the official said we must subpoena the bank, when i ask how she called her colleague and a colleague insulted my sister by saying that she "willingly deposited her money whilst the system asked her 4 times if she is sure" to be paying the correct person.
She didn't have to say the words that my Sister is stupid, not literally so, when i intervened, she said my sister should open a case at the police station, and i politely asked what would be the charge as this is not ***** or civil matter, i said specifically to her, she needs to make sense in terms of what the case category would be, we do not have comprehensive details of the person whom was erroneously paid, no physical address, no work address.
Her response to us was very disturbing to say the least, "her implication was that i said she said zero" meaning she said nothing.I pleaded for help and my sister was crying and there was no empathy shown from the officials.
Capitec claims "Simplicity" however it is not what it purport to be and and passing the buck and ill treating their customers by adding misery to their plight left me irate. All my siblings have and uses capitec bank, i also opened an account not so long ago. Money cannot be reversed, there is no willingness to recall the money, except negative attitude to someone who is a client and who is not technically advanced and bank official argued with clients that money was willingly paid when i corrected her to say erroneously, mistakenly or accidentally deposited hard earned money.
I will advice my siblings and including myself to cancel our services with capitec bank, there are many banks in SA and some are closing and retrenching employees, so if Capitec think they are invisible, then they must know that clients are what makes business and should they continue to be this inconsiderate, i will make it my mission to strongly spread the word of bad service everywhere possible.
