Our money isnt safe with Capitec
Good day,
I am writing to formally dispute unauthorized and *****ulent transactions that occurred on my father’s Capitec Bank account following an incident at the Varulam ATM in Durban.
On the day in question, my father’s bank card was swallowed by the ATM while he was attempting to complete a transaction. During this time, he immediately sought assistance from nearby security personnel and attempted to resolve the situation on site. Despite being actively present at the ATM and seeking help, unauthorized withdrawals were processed from his account at two separate locations simultaneously.
This clearly indicates that the transactions were not authorised by him and were executed under *****ulent circumstances while he was still physically at the ATM location and reporting the incident.
A case has already been opened, and the circumstances strongly suggest that my father was a victim of theft and ATM *****. He bears no fault in this matter, as he did not authorise or facilitate any of the transactions, and his card had already been compromised by being retained by the ATM.
It is deeply concerning that Capitec Bank has declined the request for reversal of these *****ulent transactions despite the clear evidence of loss of control over the card and simultaneous suspicious activity.
My father is the primary breadwinner in his household and also operates a small business. The funds that were removed represent essential livelihood and operational capital, and the financial impact has been severe.
We respectfully request an urgent review of this matter, including:
A full investigation into the ATM incident at Varulam, Durban CCTV footage review from the ATM location Transaction trace verification showing simultaneous withdrawals Immediate reversal/refund of all *****ulent transactions Written explanation for the initial rejection of the claim
If this matter is not resolved internally, we will have no choice but to escalate it to the Banking Ombudsman and pursue further legal remedies, as this appears to be a clear case of ATM ***** where the account holder was not negligent.
We look forward to your urgent response and resolution.
