No Customer Service At All

I am so cross and dissapointed in Capitec in Fourways Crossing, Excatly a month ago my husband had transferred money to me through cell phone banking an amount of R2700.00. He unfortunately had put a digit wrong in my cellphone number. Not even a hour later after the transfer we had picked up the mistake. He went in to the bank and the consultant had told him that the person had already withdrawn R2100.00 of that money. He then said the R600.00 Balance they must reverse so long because that money doesn't belong to him. they refused. After spending an entire day back and forth from the bank to douglasdale police station my husband got nowhere. The bank refusing to assist and help also one of their clients with some customer service. A few days later my husband received an sms that R600.00 has been put into his account, when he contacted the bank to find out where this money came from they had told him that the client agreed for them to transfer it back. Thus clearly stating he knew that money was not his. We have heard nothing further from Capitec regarding this which I find totally unacceptable. My husband has opened a case against ths person and we are awaiting the outcome. I would just like to know R2700.00 Versus R10 000.00 Mistake what would have happened then the same thing?? I bank with Capitec too and I feel if this is how they treat their clients I should close my account and move to a different bank who will put their customers first. Our salaries what we use to survive goes through these accounts but when something goes wrong they take no responsibility and rather defend and protect someone who has basically comitted theft. When we reported this the bank could have atleast said we will place his account on hold, he will have to go into a branch to sort it out or find out why it is on hold and rectify the situation from there. Not wipe your hands and tell us to accept that money is gone.

Hi Ian

As per our telephone conversation, you confirmed being understanding that the bank assisted you as per the code of banking practice and therefore you were understanding of the outcome.

Kind regards
