No account sales for foreigners
My journey to open an account at capitec begun on 15 February 2016. I visited glenfair branch and was told what documents I needed to bring along. But i had my kenyan passport which holds my valid diplomatic visa and lease agreement with my husband's signature as proof of resident. 3 days later i returned to the bank with my passport, lease agreement with my husband's passport and his fica declaration form. The ladies rejected the fica form as it had been filled with incorrect arrangement of his name as per his passport. I drove all the way to Johannesburg for his signature amending the error. Running back to the branch they requested his payslip which I adamantly waited for him to email and I printed out. Presenting my documents again, the ladies realised that my visa couldn't enable me open an account. This was on 22 feb after I had spent the whole week and particularly this day running up and down to open the account. I have never felt frustrated and some form of rejection as I felt from this bank. The staff seemed completely clueless on account sales for foreigners as they kept consulting each other on legally of my visa. Shame, quite backward.
