Negligence & no sense of ownership
"I called Capitec's ***** department on the 30th of October 2017 on behalf of my mother regarding an incident that lead to ********** being able to attain her card and pin number. Her limit was increased from R1000 to R24 999. We explained to the agent that my mother does not have Cellphone banking or Internet banking and therefore could only have increased her inside the branch. We were told by the consultant we spoke to, that these people did intact go into Capitec's branch in Vereeniging to increase her limit- she was not at those premises when this was done. The agent then told us that it would take up to 8 days to receive feedback and gave us the following reference number: 511 110 74. My mother received an SMS asking her to visit her nearest Capitec branch (Evaton) & "contact Zubayr at Unauthorized Disputed Transaction" to try and resolve the matter. She visited Capitec's branch in Evaton on Thursday the 16th of November 2017. They put her on the phone, got someone to translate for her in Zulu & the person on the phone asked her to describe what happened. Again. She was then told that unauthorized transactions had gone off on her account but she'd given away her pin so they could not help her further. Yes, her pin was compromised but the limit increase was the Banks fault/ due to their negligence & it lead to 24k of the loss she suffered. She's a pensioner and those are her only savings which she entrusted Capitec & they're satisfied with admitting their negligence & taking advantage of people they perceive to be weak minded. This is unacceptable." Today my mother & I receive a phone call from Nomfefe Wulana ( ********** 5) telling me that we can be assisted because my mother's pin was compromised. I asked how they were able to increase her limit without my mother being there? I was told that she had to have been at the present in order for them to use her finger print so I asked if there's footage of her physically being in the bank to make these transfer. I was then told that THERE ARE NO CAMERAS IN THE BRANCH so they only have the finger print device that "serves as proof". This is an extreme display of negligence that's lead to one of their clients losing a large chunk of their life savings and the consultant I spoke to didn't seem phased by this fact. How does Mr Price have cameras in their stores and An Entire Financial Institution NOT?
