My aunt, recently released from hospital, transferred to wrong recepient and approached the branch - could you kindly assist?
Hi there, my Aunt who is a client of Capitec in Taung has been in hospital for most of April/May due to a mental illness issue. Upon her return, she needed to make an urgent payment which would amongst which also included a co-payment needed to be made to the healthcare providers.
In her attempt to pay an amount of R2 000, on the morning of 15 May she entered one of the numbers wrong. Realising this, she immediately arranged to travel over 50 kilometers to her nearest branch in Taung station to attempt to correct and reverse the error.
She was told that the bank could not do the reverse, even though she was told who the wrong recepient is. The Taung branch made it clear that a reversal cannot be done, that she has essentially lost the R2000 - if the recipient is not co-operative.
I went to my local branch in Alberton, to try and verify this and was told that the reversal is doable at a cost of R160 and that the bank can phone the recipient and assist with ensuring the error has been corrected.
The challenge is that she has been in hospital for about two weeks and is still going through assessments, she has lost a lot of income due to her health and these funds were also to assist with the health situation she is still dealing with - we are able to provide specific info around this, should the bank need proof.
We are simply asking for assistance in trying recover or direct the funds to the right recepient. Kindly assist
