MONEY ****** FROM CAPITEC CARD

I don't do online banking and there was what seems like online purchase from my account without my permission. Capitec says it's called an unknown transaction (seriously?) where a transaction is done without the account holders permission (wow). How in the world can someone or let's say something purchase on a card that is not present? How did they/it do it without the card number?
