A while back i received notification to attend at the bank to renew my card as my current card would expire on 31 August 2016. On Saturday, 27th August 2016 I attended at the Capitec Midrand branch to address same. The lady who assisted me advised that i would be charge an amount of R53,00 to renew my card. I was appauled at this. I enquired what the payment was for, she advised that it was for replacing my card. I then advised that when we open the accounts nobody gives us full information that when the card expires theres an additional amount to be paid. Further i advised that the card is not lost so why must i be charged or treated the same way as someone who had lost their bank account card. She was unable to provide me with a clear and precise explanation for the amount being charged. I refuse to pay the R53,00 and propose that Capitec revise a way to address situations where this scenario arises as being charged for renewing a card, which is not lost but we are following Capitec

Bank's internal procedures as they are the ones who have expiry periods on the cards for their own internal process. Therefore it is unfair and unacceptable to charge consumers to renew a card. Kindly advise how same can be resolved.
