Management who don’t responsibility and falsely mislead consumers

In January I visited the Capitec branch in Goodwood to update my contact details when an employee asked if I’d be interested in a fixed account. He explained and said the money will be available when I need it … in my mind a 32 day account thereafter the money is available he then proceeded to conclude the application and I was not given a hard copy of the agreement I was told to sign on the digital pad which I did as I agreed on a 32 day account.As I trusted what we verbally agreed on. After 32 days I’ve come to realise that my money was locked in a fixed term account for a year and if I wanted to cancel I would be liable to pay a penalty fee.Due to this inconvenience I suffered financially and I had to incur debt to resolve my financial situation.Thereafter I contacted Capitec for assistance but to no avail eventually due to the fact that I’m not in the country a consultant managed to make contact. Then the penalty fees were reversed and my money was back in my account after approximately waiting more than 6 weeks. I then requested that the interest that was due to me be paid only to be told that they have a signed document on file stating that I agreed to the fixed account.Seriously I haven’t gone to my attorneys as yet but I see I have to follow through as this type of malpractice is totally unacceptable.As a consumer the CPA protects consumers from such situations I’m bringing it to the public’s attention on all social media platforms so that you are not caught off guard like I was by *********** staff who misled people and management who don take responsibility for there actions.
