Loan paid up but still reflects on credit score. WHY?

I am deeply disappointed by my bank, I had a loan with them that I paid up(late). I am in the process of purchasing a house and found out that it still reflects affecting my home loan. Went into Capitec bank and they said it is still on the system and would not help as to why it is still there.
