Its better to save under my mattress
So this morning I was making use of my Capitec app in order to do a cash send to my husband.upon entering my pin my phone froze...I locked and unlocked my phone and re entered my pin and the cash send transaction was then completed successfully. Few minutes there after a debit order from Reference betterfitnessitems.com.comorkus went off with the amount of R199. 30 minutes after that a debit order for R2333.48 went off from the same company. I then proceeded to make my way to my nearest branch where I spoke to Kyle from Town centre plaza branch in Mitchell's plain and was told that an incident will be logged further more there is nothing they can do as I gave authorisation for these payments/debit orders to take place. Keep in mind I entered my pin as I was performing a cash send transaction.KYle proceeded to call the international banking investigator whom informed Kyle that I have no right to dispute the transaction as I gave authorisation for it and provided me with an incident number which stated that it has been reported and send me an SMS confirming the incident was logged.status open and closed.
This entire duration I was at the Mitchell's plain plaza branch in order to speak to a manager or some one who can assist me.two hours went by and I received another sms stating a different incident and case number informing me that the incident was opened and closed without any explanation.
At this point my phone died and I was told to charge it and come back so that the consultant can cancel my virtual card. I then spoke to the branch manager of Capitec Mitchell's plain plaza branch who explained how important it is for us as consumers to protect ourselves from *****.i then explained to her the previous consultants from prior *****ulent activities advised I make use of the virtual card in order to protect myself from *****ulent activity.
This is the fourth time I am experiencing the same *****ulent activity from my Capitec account.in all accurances nothing was done to safeguard my funds nor was any of it refunded. After speaking to a second consultant by the name of Meagan I was told there is two ways how this can go...either I log a complaint with Capitec head office or I contact better fitness in order to get my funds reversed and then Meagan put me on the line with the international investigator in order to explain my case and was told there is a fee that I am liable to pay before the investigation can start.
Meagan then went to get advice from another consultant whom advised her to send an email on my behalf explaining the situation.i requested that I be copied into the email and left my personal details with her before leaving the branch.
I am upset that although Kyle,Meagan and the branch manager tried their utmost to assist in the best manner possible the fact that Capitec does not have some sort of policy or procedure in place to reassure and protect their customers against all the ***** happening is very dissapoiting
Banks are entrusted with our salaries and also our life savings and need to implement a confirmation courtesy call or sms to authorise these transactions.
Kyle Meagan and Mrs.Branch manager I thank you for attempting to assist I appreciate ur eagerness to help.
