Is Capitec generally not accommodating to Foreign Nationals - The reef branch

I was referred to Capitec Bank by my colleague as iam looking to open a fixed savings account which I can use to save money. I currently have an account with Fnb which my salary goes into and a standard bank savings account which is not fixed. I was referred to Capitec due to the quick digital process of opening an account and the fact that they close at 6.

Iam a foreign national on a spousal permit, married to a South African citizen and currently working in SA. But was turned away by Andre Van Der Merwe, saying Capitec doesn't allow foreigners on a visitors visa to open accounts.

Iam not a visitor, iam married to a SA citizen with 3 children and in possession of a spousal visa which gives me the right to work. I even produced my payslip and am happy to supply any other supporting documents.

I want to understand why I was turned away? My colleague has the exact same permit and managed to open her account last week. Why is my situation different?
