Internet banking error; poor service

I tried to log into my internet banking account a week or so ago, before I knew that Capitec's sms and online services were down. I was unable to login due to the service being down.

Yesterday, when your internet banking facility was back up ( I assumed it was although I had not received an sms telling me it was), I tried to log in. I typed in my username and password and then clicked 'sign in'. Instead of asking for my token number as it would usually do at this stage, there was a red line of text saying "Attention: Invalid user credentials"

I called the client care number and spoke to Sipho. I explained the problem. He kept insisting that I was typing the wrong password in. I tried to tell him that I was typing in the same password I have been using for this account for years, and that I was typing it correctly.

He did not acknowledge that there was any problem on Capitec's side, and just told me to go into the branch to reset my password.

I have a busy and demanding job and work long hours. I do not have time to go into a branch and further, I shouldn't have to, as the mistake is Capitec's, not mine. It is obviously a problem with the internet banking service that, I suspect, started when the service was down.

This is very poor customer service. Please can someone unlock my internet banking account. I have urgent payments to make.

Regards,

Sarah Johnston
Cell **********

Hi there,

Thanks for your reply. You don't need to escalate it now -- I called client care again and a better consultant explained to me that the reason I can't access my online banking is because I downloaded the Capitec app onto my phone.

So now at least I know what's going on.

I'm still upset that no one told me you could only use one or the other -- the app or online banking. If I had known that, I would never have downloaded the app as I prefer to use internet banking.

Regards,
