Incompetence
I am an English speaking South African living with my son in Vryheid KZN
I went to the Bloemnel branch of Capitec Bank in Vryheid KZN to open a savings account, I was given a Fica Declaration form to be filled in and signed by my son and was told to return with a copy of his ID Document, my ID Document and a utility account from the Abaqulusi Municipality
. I returned to Capitec Bank with all the documents as requested and waited 40 minutes before I was attended to.
My son filled in the form and stated the address as 57 Komissie Street, Vryheid, 3100, KZN. (English way of writing an address) My application was refused because on the utility account, the address was stated as \Komissiestraat 57\" (Afrikaans way of writing an address) and also because there was no \"KZN\" on the account. There is a Vryheid in the Western Cape as well as a Vryheid in the Free State, so why is the address incorrect?
The form was in English but because the address was not written in Afrikaans my application was declined!!!"
