Inaccurate Information from this bank

So, i took out a loan over 10 years ago and couldn't pay as i lost my Job when i called the bank check the balance i was told that there wasn't a loan reflecting and kept calling to check and still got the same story, fast forward 2022 i try applying for debt and was informed i owe Capitec which suddenly appeared again years 10 years later. How is this fare on me as a client when i called and tried to pay and was told i owe nothing?
