In cahoots with Clientele ******** to **********ly debit client's accounts
On 04/10/2022 I had spoken to a Clientele field agent in Eyethu Mall in Orange Farm requesting for a quote for life cover as I have been shopping around for life insurance. The agent agreed to assist me with the quote and he said in order to do that he will have to take my details so that they can quote me properly. He took everything and registered it in the phone he was carrying and also needed my banking details. When I ask him why he needs my banking details he said they need to take them as the quote request won't proceed without them. After he did everything e said I will get a call from Clientele in 2 days time regarding the quote. Instead a few minutes later after I have parted with him I got a msg saying "Dear Client, thank you for choosing a Clientele Legal Plan, Pol No **********0, giving you access to 24 hour professional legal services on **********. The cover amount for the main member is R280000 per year. Your first premium of R280.00 will be debited in Oct. Regards, Clientele **********"
I then realised that I was de*****ed by the agent in taking a legal cover that I didn't ask for and he activated a debicheck debit order to go off my account on the 23rd October 2022. I then checked my Capitec app and saw the debicheck info with tracking facility under my debit orders. I called Clientele on 07/10/2022 and reported the incident and cancelled that policy talking to a call centre agent. I was then sent a message "Dear Valued Client, your plan has been cancelled as requested. Should you wish to reactivate, please contact Clientele on ********** (134)" but now the agent tells me that the policy will cancell after 30 days so the debit order will still go off on 23 Ocober and thereafter they will refund me directly in my account. I then explained that as I'm an unemployed person there will be no money in my account and the unpaid magtapes will mess up my account and cause me bank charges. She then said there's nothing she can do to further assist me. On the 11th October at 10h53 I called Capitec call centre and spoke to a rude and unprofessional agent whom I did a request on what to do about the matter and can't the bank remove the debit order from my account. She also said she can't assist me in removing the debit order, I must speak with Clientele. When I ask her why the bank cannot protect their clients' accounts by allowing ******** to create debit orders without client signing or approving. She then hung up on me.
I read a lot of reviews on Hello Peter about this Clientele Legal cover of R280 and realised that they've been ******** a lot of people with this Legal cover modus operandi. Some pensioners are ****med using their Covid 19 vaccination cards. People receiving unemployment grant of R350 are ****med the R280 in that meager grant they get and no people ever get a refund. Some are debited continuosly every month even it was said the policy was cancelled due to the debicheck and tracking facility.
So people need to be aware if dealing with Clientele as they are ******** who are collecting unsuspecting people's money **********ly through Capitec debicheck and Capitec allows it.
