How safe are our funds? "There is nothing we can do", really?

Early morning around 9:00am at Thavhani mall, thohoyandou, i went to a capitec atm and tried withdrawing money, my card got jammed and i had to go inside the bank for help, but as i am aware of current ****s going around i called for security but there was none, i waited there at the atm for about 20 minutes but there was no atm security that came or was anywhere nearby. The other people started complaining and shouting at me because i had occupied the atm for a very long time. Then i decided to go into the bank but 3 minutes into the mall i received a notification of a withdrawal from my account at an atm that is less than 1 km from the mall. I explained what happened at the bank and that i tried waiting for security but none was available. The question i have is how safe is our money in banks since there is no security at atms for that long. All they could say was "there is nothing we can do" , really? Even a few hours later i went by the mall but there were no security guards by the atms, i have lost my hard earned cash, they couldn't even try look into their cameras or raise awareness to their clients by the atms. Capitec has seriously disappointed this time, how can one wait for security for that long, and still they say "there is nothing we can do"
