Horrible Service from Capitec in Vryheid

I am appalled at how ridiculously difficult it is to access proper, working Capitec ATMs in Vryheid. I spent 3 hours in the afternoon alone, trying to find an open ATM to deposit a large amount of cash which I urgently needed on my account, with no luck. Every single ATM was either out of service, unable to take cash deposits, or had a line so long that it was hard to know where exactly it ended. Considering that local police were driving around to warn people of pickpockets and ******* that were all around town that day, I did not think it wise to stand for hours in a queue with a large sum of cash in my pocket.

I even went to local supermarkets, where you can deposit cash into your account if you are with literally any other bank, EXCEPT Capitec.

The Capitec branch office is also no help. They rudely and barely greet you at the door and inform you that you cannot make a deposit inside the branch - and then they give you the ironic advice to "come back to the ATMs when everyone has gone home".

Which I did. I live outside of town, so I had to travel about 40km that day back and forth (and that does not even include driving though the entire town several times, from top to bottom, to try and find a Capitec ATM) to "come back when everyone has gone home". Which they had not. Because the same ATMs that had an endless line when I was there earlier, were now 'out of service'. So, after dark, at 8PM on a Thursday night, there was only ONE single ATM in the whole of Vryheid working and 'relatively' accessible, that takes cash deposits. The rest were ATMs for withdrawals only, which were also crowded beyond your wildest dreams.

By the time the line at the deposit ATM was reasonably shorter, it was after 9PM. By this time, there were several drunken strangers staggering around while I was standing in line, getting uncomfortably close and even bumping against us. No security guard or anyone in sight to keep an eye on the safety of people depositing and withdrawing money from an ATM at night. Not even a street lamp or anything to properly light up that dangerous area. Only by almost 10PM was I able to make my deposit and gratefully leave that unsafe spot to go home.

Due to the general absurd shortage of Capitec ATMs, you have to queue for several hours to just get close to one - and then you have to hope it is still working when you get to it. Whereas if I was with a different bank, I would have experienced an abundance in ATMs and less infuriating queues. There were plenty of ATMs from other banks available, in safe areas with divided and organized queues, unfortunately I could not use them to deposit cash into my account with Capitec.

In conclusion, I am very disappointed with the general lack of service and lack of availability from Capitec in Vryheid, as well as their lack of consideration for their loyal customers. I have been with Capitec for almost 9 years now, but I am ready to move to another bank, as this was not my only unpleasant experience with them, and their services are only getting worse with time.
