HIGH INTEREST RATE CHARGED ON A HANDED OVER ACVOUNT

Horrible Service from both Capitec Bank and DMC.

I had a loan of R33000,with capitec bank in 2019 July,with a monthly installment of R1024.

I started paying that loan on a monthly basis,I had no issues, then during covid I could not pay that loan anymore, due to being shot paid at work.

Fast forward to 2023,I then received a call from DMC stating that, the account has been handed over to them I,need to make a payment arrangement with them.

I made a arrangement to pay R1000.00 monthly, since my financial wellness changed.

I then started making those payments, then I skipped a couple of months here and there.

For the past 8 - 12 months,I have been consistent in paying those R1000.

The total money paid now is R21000,since I made a arrangement with DMC.

My issue started when I realized that the loan is actually not really going down, even when I started making payments.

I then requested for a Statement for 12 months from DMC,which I did receive within a week.

On the statement I realized that I am being charged R500+ for interest from the R1000.00 that I have been paying monthly, which means for each R1000 I pay,im billed R500+ on the interest only, which means only about R300 - 400+ goes towards the loan.

I then reached out to DMC to request the breakdown of how that interest is calculated, then they keep on sending me statements.

Even when I requested a breakdown of that interest, they continued to send me statements.

I reached out to Capitec via email, and then they advised that my account has been handed over to DMC,I should contact DMC.

I reached court to DMC again they are advising me that, they are collecting on behalf of CAPITEC,I should contact capitec.

This is honestly frustrating as it looks like no one has the answers for me.

This is affecting my credit rating,as on my credit score,it shows that I have missed payments of 64+ months.

Can someone look into this matter from both capitec and DMC

I understand your frustration regarding the interest on your loan especially after making payments for some time. Please note that loan repayments are typically structured so that, in the earlier stages, a larger portion of your instalment goes toward interest before gradually reducing the capital amount over time. This can sometimes make it seem like the balance is not decreasing as quickly as expected. That said, we take your concern seriously. Unfortunately, due to your account being handed over Capitec no longer has access to assist regarding the account any as all rights and admin of the loan account was handed over externally
