Hidden costs that are not disclosed to clients

I took a personal loan with Capitec Bank in 2018 which I was repaying R5000 per month. When I went to check balance on 29 Feb 2020 I was surprised that the statement showed that only R20 000 was reduced from the total loan. When I investigated further I found that Ithey had also included a disability cover for R19,86 death cover for R214,85 and unemployment cover for R310,54 which is an extra R545,25 in addition to the 20% interest that they were charging for the personal loan. When I called their client care to cancel the covers because I was not informed about them, the consultant told me that she could not cancel them because they are a package. This is very disappointing for a bank that claims to be affordable because this are hidden costs that clients are not told about when they apply for the loan. I feel I should have been given an opportunity to decide whether I needed those covers or not. The same covers would relapse immediately I finish paying the loan, which means that all my money has gone down the drain. I took personal and home loans with other banks but this was my first experience where you are not given a choice. Furthermore, I don't understand why I should be forced to pay for so many I covers that I may end up not using. I would have opted to take the loan with another bank if thisI information was disclosed during the application process.
