Heart-Wrenching Experience with Capitec
I'm writing this review as a last resort, hoping someone will listen and help. After being retrenched, I've been struggling to make ends meet. Despite my best efforts to keep up with my loan installments, I've reached a point where I'm unable to pay.
As an active job seeker, I've tried to make arrangements with Capitec to avoid having my account handed over. I've used various communication channels, including visiting the branch, only to be met with a lack of empathy and understanding.
The consultant I spoke to informed me that, despite being unemployed, I'm still mandated to pay the loan due to credit insurance. However, this clause was nowhere to be found in my contract. I made an arrangement to pay R100, but Capitec debited my entire account, leaving me without funds for essential expenses like nappies, formula, school fees, and food.
To add insult to injury, when I requested a reversal of the funds, I was asked to provide proof. It's unacceptable that Capitec failed to do their due diligence and now expects me to jump through hoops.
I'm pleading with Capitec to reverse the funds and show some compassion. I'm still unemployed, and my children are suffering as a result of their actions. Is it too much to ask for a little understanding and empathy?
