Had to pay R50 for faulty ATM Card
I have recently been subjected to embarrassment countless times as my ATM card gets rejected at different stores.

This is my first ATM card which I got about 4 years ago when I first opened my account and I have been looking after it very well ever since.

Apart from the daily wear and tear from normal use no other damages has been done to the card. I eventually found some time and took the card into the Worcester branch located at the Mountain Mill shopping center. The consultant acknowledged the age of my card (which still had the larger chip on it) and said that I needed to pay R50 for a new card.

My card was not lost, it merely succumbed to regular use after about four years of use.

It is an absolute shame that I had to pay for a replacement as I was not responsible for it failing and have not lost it either. The consultant simply shrugged his shoulders and said the card was old and needed replacing.

Are Capitec customers then to assume that the expiry date of the cards have been deliberately extended to such a time well past its failure point for which customers then have to pay.

I look forward to receiving my R50 back into my account for the inferior ATM card provided.
