***** Report Assistance: I need answers

#*******Alert# Need Assistance

I was ****med R250000 by a person I was trying to buy a house from. When I realised that something was off it was 3 days after I deposited the money from capitec to FNB. I went to report to capitec in January 2022 and brought all the necessary documents such the affidavit, case number and ID for them to send to ***** department of investigation. I consistently followed up on the matter with no answers only for them to say I should wait. After a month has passed I decided to go again to thier branch and they told me all my money is gone.

Now the confusion is here. Before I reported the case I couldn’t get hold of the people whom I deposited the money too, there were just nowhere to be found, even their email was not working and also the house they said was for sale , the person who lives there said it was not for sale. however after I reported the case these ******** or people called consistently to ask me to go and speak to the bank and tell them that I am the one who deposited the money so it can be released to them.

How is it then the bank says the money was utilised. They did not tell me when the money was utilised? Was it before I reported the case, was their bank account ever frozen after the report? If so , how possible is it that they freeze an account that has no money and had to wait over a month for them to tell me that. Whom does the bank account belong to exactly? Was the money released after we reported? Why would these people take their time calling me all the time to go speak with the bank to release the money if it was already not there, is that possible? Those are all the questions I could not get.

Ngicela usizo. My mother and my sisters have been living in very bad conditions. Going from place to place. From childhood we have never had a stable home or place we can call our own home. Some of my sisters are in a stage now where they should be finished with school but they are not because they drop out and change schools when they move to either to stay to other peoples houses or to rent. This money of which took years for us to have was our last hope to have a place we can call a home.

None of my siblings work or my mother. I am the only person who has been taking care of them with piece jobs. Right now it even more challenging and depressing for me because not only do I have to take of them but also their children. I call on anyone who can assist me with at least getting a job and starting over by getting a loan to get my mother a home. I have a university qualification but still no job.

There’s nothing more painful than seeing umuntu omudala ekhala. It took me weeks to actually tell her that the money was gone because I knew it would destroy her considering the poverty we live in.

It has destroyed me, I am very depressed and unable to concentrate at school because of this.

This is just a tip of an iceberg to what we have been through. Nothing seems to work out or right for us.
