***** on my Capitec account
On 06.03.2022 an amount of R1 002.00 was deducted from my Capitec account by Amazon Web Services Cape Town. I have never done business with this company and I did not receive any goods or services for the amount taken. This money was taken from my account without my consent.
I immediately contacted Capitec; the consultant stopped my card and referred my complaint to Capitec's ***** Department. She also provided me with a reference number and said I will get feedback between 7-10 working days.
I then made contact with Amazon Web Services who asked me for the "transaction ID" of this bank transaction in order to locate the specific account used to de***** me. I was told only my bank will be able to provide me with this transaction ID, so I went to my Capitec branch. The consultant had no clue what I was talking about, so I left empty handed. Further communication followed with Amazon Web Services who assured me that there must be a transaction ID and that my bank must provide it. So, I once again went back to the Capitec branch and this time another consultant gave me a 6 digit number.
Amazon Web Services unfortunately were not able to locate the transaction because they say the number Capitec provided me with is in fact not the transaction ID.
The company who has my money tried to locate the transaction, but my bank gave us all the run around and could not provide the transaction ID which would help to locate the account where the charge came from in order to close the ********** account and refund me.
My last hope was Capitec's ***** Department, but to date I have not had any feedback.
It really is not a nice feeling to know that someone took money from my Capitec account and my bank is not doing a whole lot to assist.
