BEWARE... Capitec supports *****

Richard M | 08 Aug 2019, 09:49

I made * transfers that turned out to be ***** (Capitec to Capitec) . I immediately contacted Capitec forensics department who said they've "flagged" the account, I must get a case number and send the details and copies of the transaction documents for forensics to investigate. They also confirmed the transfers. I did all they requested and phoned to confirm receipt and ask what the procedure was from there only to be told "our forensics department DON'T investigate, they just cooperate with the police"? What is the point of a forensics department in that case?.. They have the copies of the quote, agreement, police case number, account numbers involved and proof of transfers. How on earth can they tell me theyre unable to help if they have all documenation and access to BOTH accounts??? I was asked what my reference number is, but none were given and emails do not get rep**** to.

I recieved a reply from Capitec to call the police officer who advised me to also told me to keep in contact with the bank for speedy resolution as only the bank can check the funds in the account and/or trace the funds. I was phoned by Capitec who in turn told me to call on a branch as their forensics department do not take outside calls. I called on a branch who contacted their forensics department and was told they can only deal with the police. This does not make sense... I am the client, surely I must be kept informed and assisted by MY bank.
