Don't take credit retrenchment cover with them!!!
I am saddened to receive the news that you have declined my retrenchment claim. This is a very difficult time for me and my family, having lost my job at a time whereby there is absolutely no hope of getting further employment because of the Covid19 pandemic, I had hoped that Capitec and Guardrisk would be most empathetic towards their well paying clients especially in our time of need.
As such I would like to lodge a dispute regarding my declined my claim.
I would firstly like to state that I was never made aware of your 3 months waiting period on the policy. All I recall is being asked if I would like to take cover via Capitec or via my own private insurer, of which I agreed to taking the capitec one hoping it would make my life easier.
Even if I had known about it I still would have had no control over the effects of Covid19 on my former employer and the decision to retrench. I could not have convinced them to retrench me a day later so that my credit insurance with you can cover me.
When I lodged my claim on 20 October 2020, after losing my job on 30 September 2020, I had already paid the policy premium for a full 3 months. My debit order date is the 25th of every month.
The 3 months waiting period that is being sited as your reason to decline my claim ended on the exact day that I was retrenched of which by then I had paid the premium for September on the 25th already.
Even while I waited for you to process this claim I have paid my normal premiums for a further 2 months (on 23rd October and 24th November) with the hopes that soon my claim would lift the burden.
Please please do not let me down on a technicality like this. At the end of the day 30 September the day I lost my job, is exactly 3 months to the day 30 June, by then I had already paid you 3 premiums without any missed payments.
If you will not be able to assist me in my time of need then it is better if you cancel my premium and refund me my premiums for the past two months which I clearly paid you for nothing on.
I do not have money to continue paying capitec so it is better to reduce my costs by cancelling the insurance policy I have with you. It is clearly pointless to continue paying when I will be rejected like this.
This is all very disheartening. I am already at the brink of suicide because of this job loss, to be ****** of my cover like this on a technicality is extremely cruel. It is better to die than to live with a debt that will keep growing because of arrears and interest which I will be unable to pay. The very point of taking up insurance is so one doesn't have to stress about not having a job and also having no income to pay debts at the same time.
